Globalization and the Automobile Industry- Team Superbad (Group 5)
Globalization and the Automobile Industry- Team Superbad (Group 5)
Our documentary is about globalization as it applies to the automobile industry. Globalization, as we defined it, is the expansion of markets across the world so that we have access to the rest of the worlds resources. It enables us to move goods and services faster, cheaper, and more efficiently. We compared Henry Fords assembly line to modern-day ones. In modern assembly lines, human workers have been replaced by robots. We also discussed consumer behavior, more specifically, why people buy certain brands of cars. To do this, we interviewed Auburn University students and asked them what they look for when buying a car and why they chose their current one. We also talked about how foreign cars manifest themselves in the United States and vice versa. We visited a foreign (Toyota) car dealership and a domestic one (Ford) to find out more about the manufacturing and construction process. We asked them about their customers what they feel drives most people to buy their products. We also discussed advertising strategies. The use of the internet and television commercials has enabled car manufacturers to connect directly to their consumers. Our documentary was meant to illustrate that, due to globalization, the automobile industry is all interconnected. As a group, this documentary has opened our eyes to globalization and, hopefully, it will educate others about how globalization affects our society and why it is important.

Automobile Industry: "Global automobile industry rebounds."
Automobile Industry: "Global automobile industry rebounds."
The Global Auto Industry met the depths of it's valley in 2009. Low consumer confidence coupled with rising unemployment kept the market incredibly sour. Things could have been worse though, had the government not incentivized an increase in purchases through the "Cash for Clunkers" program. In 2010, the automobile industry in the US is expected to rebound on the heels of companies like Ford and GM emerging from the rubble. The global automotive industry sees growth on the horizon, especially in parts of Asia. Growth will depend on which automotive products truly answer the call for more fuel efficient vehicles. CEO,Jack W. Plunkett, guides you through the trends that are going to rehabilitate one of the world's most influential industries.
